English as a Second Language By Design


Field Trip Classes ESL by Design knows that as a newcomer, you may not be familiar with everyday activities in Arizona. That is why we are happy to take you to places you want to visit, such as the supermarket, bank, or Urgent Care and introduce you to the American lifestyle. The purpose for Field Trips is to give you confidence and the practice you need so you will be comfortable as you use your English in new situations! We want you to know the words to use when greeting a sales person or clerk. We want you to feel comfortable with words and phrases you will hear and speak in the marketplace. Classes meet twice a week. The first class day of the week you will be in the classroom learning vocabulary, practicing conversation, and discussing important information about the places you will visit. The second class day will take place outside the classroom. You will have the opportunity to practice what you have learned at the Field Trip location. Typical places students choose to go for field trips are: Doctor's office/Clinic, Dentist office, bank, post office, supermarket, local specialty stores and restaurants. Classes are six weeks long and field trips are decided by the class. Fees are determined by enrollment and destinations. Call for information at 602-400-3159.
